About

The Training Centre

Established over 40 years ago, DLT’s origins go back to 1968 when the National Freight Company set up a training division in Bridgend, South Wales. Following a management buyout in 1992 we changed our name to DLT Training Ltd. The new DLT Training Centre was opened in June 2009. The interior of the building was purpose built to encapsulate all the ideals of a training environment that would help to motivate not only the trainee, but also the Instructor delivering training in ideal surroundings. The quality of the Centre in training terms are second to none, the benefits for the customer are numerous from realisation that the costs of attending or sending trainees to the centre is money well spent and stands up to the scrutiny of all accrediting bodies including the HSE.

LGV / HGV Manouvering Area

We have a replica of the DSA LGV/HGV reversing area for large vehicle testing that is located close to the DLT training centre. This consists of a 1 kilometre runway that is private land and closed off to any distractions for both the trainee and Instructor. We can also carry out any driver training that needs the option of not being on a public road, such as car/caravan towing/reversing etc. We can use the area for any customer requirements they might have, Including an introduction to driving an articulated tractor and trailer (56 feet long) without the need for a licence.

Construction Plant Training Site

All Plant training/testing under CPCS/CITB accreditation is carried out at our 5 acre site near to the DLT training centre. The site was purpose built to accrediting bodies standards/recommendations.
